La Fundación Conjunto Paleontológico de Teruel-Dinópolis (en adelante FCPTD), la Fundación Teruel Siglo XXI y Dinópolis, con objeto de recompensar la investigación en Paleontología y darla a conocer entre los jóvenes, convocan el Duodécimo Premio Internacional de Investigación en Paleontología Paleonturología 14 que se rigió por las siguientes,

BASES

1ª.- Podrá presentarse a este premio cualquier trabajo de investigación paleontológica publicado en 2013 en cualquier idioma y formato. Se entenderá como tal aquel cuya fecha de cabecera sea 2013 o, si aún está en prensa, pueda justificarse que su fecha de cabecera será el año 2013. Si un trabajo se ha publicado en formato electrónico durante 2013 y, posteriormente, se edita impreso en papel con fecha de cabecera de 2014, el artículo en formato electrónico podrá participar en la convocatoria Paleonturología 14 o el artículo impreso en Paleonturología 15, a criterio del autor, pero solamente en una de ellas.

2ª.- Los trabajos se podrán presentar por:

            A) Su(s) autor(es). En el caso de que el trabajo esté firmado por varios autores, uno de ellos, preferiblemente el primer autor, justificará documentalmente que todos los autores aceptan ser representados por él a todos los efectos ante la organización para su participación en este premio y aceptación, en su caso, del mismo. En las bases de este premio se entiende por autor, en el caso de que haya más de uno, al primer firmante o al que acredite la representación de todos los demás.

            B) Cualquier otra persona u organización.

3ª.- Los trabajos se presentarán impresos o en PDF, acompañados de una ficha de inscripción con los datos reflejados en el Anexo I. El autor se asegurará de que la documentación esté en poder de los organizadores antes del día 15 de noviembre de 2014, remitiéndola a:

4ª.- El jurado estará constituido por tres destacados investigadores y por el Director Gerente de la FCPTD que actuará como Secretario, con voz y sin voto. Su composición se dará a conocer al emitirse el fallo.

5ª.- El jurado actuará con la máxima libertad y tendrá, además de las facultades normales de decisión, proponer y emitir el fallo, otorgándolo o declarándolo desierto, las de interpretar las presentes bases. El fallo del jurado será inapelable.

6ª.- El fallo del jurado se hará público en Teruel antes de la finalización del año 2014. El mismo se dará a conocer a través de los medios de comunicación. Se remitirá copia del resultado a todos los participantes que así lo soliciten.

7ª.- El premio a otorgar en el Duodécimo Premio Internacional de Investigación en Paleontología Paleonturología 14está dotado con CUATRO MIL QUINIENTOS EUROS (4.500€) –premio indivisible y sujeto a la legislación fiscal vigente- y, previamente a su aceptación, el autor del trabajo se comprometerá a redactar una versión divulgativa del trabajo premiado, con especial dedicación a su parte gráfica adicional, a entregarla a la organización en un plazo máximo de cuatro meses desde la notificación del premio y a ceder los derechos de publicación a la organización. La organización utilizará dicha versión para realizar una edición divulgativa; para ello se encargará de la traducción, en su caso, y colaborará con el autor para alcanzar el nivel didáctico requerido (alumnos entre 15 y 17 años). Dicha facultad deberá ser ejercitada en el plazo de un año a partir de la fecha del fallo.

                        El importe del premio se abonará en su 50% en un plazo máximo de tres meses desde la notificación del mismo y el 50% restante cuando se reciba la versión divulgativa.

8ª.- Un pre-jurado, compuesto por expertos en paleontología, podrá seleccionar el número de obras que estime pertinente, en todo caso no menor a diez; en el caso de trabajos preseleccionados no enviados por su autor, se contactará con ellos para proponer la aceptación de los compromisos establecidos en la base 7ª. En caso de aceptación optarán al premio; en caso contrario, o de ausencia de respuesta en un plazo de diez días, serán retirados de la deliberación final.

9ª.- Los convocantes de este premio no se comprometen a mantener correspondencia con los participantes ni a proporcionar información sobre los títulos seleccionados por el pre-jurado. Estos títulos constarán en el acta de la reunión del jurado.

10ª.- La presentación de trabajos a este premio supone, por parte del autor, la aceptación de las presentes bases.

Fundación Conjunto Paleontológico de Teruel-Dinópolis (from now on FCPTD), Fundación Teruel Siglo XXI and Dinópolis, with the purpose of rewarding palaeontological research and promoting it among teenagers, declare open the Twelfth International Award in Palaeontological Research (Paleonturology 14)based on the following Requirements:

1st.- Any palaeontological research paper published in 2013 in any language and format can apply for the award. That is, the papers either published in 2013 or if the work is still in press in the moment of applying to the award, it must be justified that the year appearing on the on the first page of the paper must be 2013. If a work was published electronically during 2013 and was later printed with a date of 2014, the paper in electronic format could be presented to the award session Paleonturology 14 or the printed version could be presented to Paleonturology 15 (the author should select only one of these options).

2nd.- The papers can be entered by:

A) Their author/s. Supposing it is signed by several authors, one of them, preferably the first author, will certify that all the others accept to be represented by him to all intents and purposes before the organisation. In case there is more than one author, we understand by author the first person signing it or the one who can prove being the representative of the others.

   B)   Any other person or organisation.

3rd.- It is compulsory to present a printed copy or a PDF file and a registration form with the data required in Annex I. The author will ensure that the copy -or the file- and the Annex I are in the hands of the organisers before November 15, 2014. This is the address where these files/forms should be sent:

4th.- The jury will be made up of three outstanding researchers (appointed by the organisers) and by the Director of the FCPTD, acting as a Secretary, but without a right to vote. Its constitution will be known at the same time as their decision.

5th.- The jury will act with complete freedom and, in addition to their normal powers -to propose and make a decision, awarding or declaring the award void-, will interpret the present Requirements. The decision of the jury will be final.

6th.- The decision of the jury will be announced in Teruel before the end of the year 2014. It will also be advertised on the media. All the participants requesting a certificate of the decision will be sent a copy.

7th.- The Twelfth International Award in Palaeontological Research Paleonturology 14is endowed with a Four Thousand Five Hundred Euros (4.500 €) prize –indivisible and subject to the current fiscal legislation- and, prior to its acceptance, the author will be committed to writing a version to popularise the awarded paper paying special attention to additional graphics that may be required. It has to be sent to the organisation within a period of four months from the notification of the award and to relinquish the publication rights to the organisation. The organisation will use it to publish a popular version (it will be translated, if necessary), and will collaborate with the author to reach the required didactic level (students between 15 and 17 years of age). The mentioned right has to be exercised within a year from the date of the decision.

The amount of the award will be paid in its 50% within a period of two months from the notification of the award and the remaining 50% when the popular version is handed in.

8th.- A previous jury, composed by experts in palaeontology, will select the number of papers they estimate relevant, in any case not less than ten. If a shortlisted paper has not been entered by its author, the organisation will propose to him the acceptance of the commitments established in the 7th requirement. In that case he will compete for the award; otherwise, or in the event of not replying within ten days, he will be withdrawn from the final deliberation.

9th.- The organisers of this award are neither committed to attend the mail nor to provide information on the titles selected by the previous jury. These titles will be entered in the record of the meeting of the jury.

10th.- Entering papers for this award implies the acceptance of these Requirements by the author.

En la ciudad de Teruel, siendo las 21:30 horas del día 11 de diciembre de 2014, se reúnen en calidad de miembros del jurado los doctores Jorge Civis Llovera (Catedrático de Paleontología de la Universidad de Salamanca y Director del Instituto Geológico y Minero de España), Francisco Javier Rodríguez Tovar (Catedrático de Paleontología y Director del Departamento de Estratigrafía y Paleontología de la Universidad de Granada) y José Ignacio Valenzuela Ríos (Profesor Titular de Paleontología de la Universidad de Valencia y Presidente del Comité Nacional Español de los Proyectos Internacionales de Ciencias Geológicas de la UNESCO).

 

Después de examinar los 23 artículos científicos participantes en la fase final del Duodécimo Premio Internacional de Investigación en Paleontología Paleonturología 14(convocado por la Fundación Conjunto Paleontológico de Teruel-Dinópolis, la Fundación Teruel Siglo XXI y Dinópolis) y tras las oportunas deliberaciones, acuerdan conceder el Premio Paleonturología 14, dotado con 4.500 euros y una edición divulgativa del trabajo premiado, al artículo:
